Swimming, swimming, in the swimming pool

The 70 degree weather today in Charleston had our hearts turned towards summertime... beaches, sunshine, swimming pools! We took advantage of family swim at our gym to get our little beach bum in the water.

She liked kicking around in her swimsuit, but she was looking at the "big bathtub" with a little anxiety...

I want my Daddy to hold me if I am going to do something a little scary!

She had her fingers in her mouth the whole time. Maybe this is something she does when she is anxious?

We took her under one time today. She isn't our little water bug yet, but se did pretty good. There were NO tears, and not even any attempts to climb up us out of the water. She even smiled a few times (especially when her daddy went under the water, and when she and I chased Daddy around the pool), and she took in stride an accidental splash in the face.
Afterwards, she must have had nearly a gallon of milk, then went to bed 2 hours earlier than normal. If she sleeps through the night tonight, I may be hitting the pool with her every day.

Hello, Mia! Happy Valentine's Day, Grand Poobah!

This one is a little blurry, but it captures my dad's fascination with Cora all weekend. As Cora has started laughing at Grand Poobah's antics, it is as if she stuck out her little finger and he curled up around it...

A new hat for summertime (Cora is monogrammed across the top)

Mia has been wrapped around Cora's finger since birth! We think that we taught her to say "shoes" this weekend :)

Cora Stands (for a few seconds, and maybe her backside was resting against my chest)

Cora's 5 monthday

Dear self: A couple of months ago I showed you your feet four your monthday. This month, I introduce you to your toes... and boy do they taste GOOD!

 Nummanumnumnum

My big toe works very much like a pacifier.

When my mom saw this, she said, "Well she's asking if we can skype Mia & Poopaw Jim!

Good morning world! Cora Jane is here!

Cora's first sippy cup of water. No doubt, most of the water ended up on her belly...
 Like father, like daughter.

A little this, a little that

Landon teases that I am obsessed with the mail. On days when I work from home (and this was especially true before Cora was born) I walk out to get the mail as soon as the mailman drops it off. It cracked Landon up that Cora was lunging for the mail as I walked in with her from the mailbox.

We gave her a little oatmeal one night, and she liked it. She didn't act like it was the best thing she had ever had (Mommy still wins!), but she was pleased. Then, she refused to nurse for the next 24 hours (Cora tried to win...), so we had to postpone oatmeal until next month (Mommy wins again!!).

She gets so much love at the CofC basketbal games. This particular game was a white-out (notice that Cora was stylishly whited-out thanks to a package from Vicky Crow), and Cora got passed halfway down our row in the faculty section.
